The new milk formula contains the most advanced mixture of oligosaccharides important in the nutrition of young children, structurally identical to those in breast milk.
A new milk formula for young children was launched, which contains a complex of five oligosaccharides structurally identical to those in breast milk.
Oligosaccharides in breast milk are essential components for the health of infants and young children, and new research indicates that they play an important role in the development of the digestive system, by favoring the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestine and the benefits brought to the metabolism of the little ones. The oligosaccharides in breast milk contribute to the improvement of cognitive functions at the level of cognitive flexibility, memory and language, fundamental processes for brain development. At the same time, oligosaccharides from breast milk help the bone system by reducing bone cortical porosity by up to 50% and increasing mineralization by 8.4%8, and the immune system benefits from the reduced risk of infections, by reducing the load of pathogens.
“We understand the importance of nutrition for the category of young children and treat this subject with seriousness and involvement, innovation representing a fundamental element in the development of the company’s portfolio. Our products are designed to be as close as possible to mother’s milk, rich in nutrients. The new milk formula contains a complex of five oligosaccharides structurally identical to those in breast milk, which support the proper development of the little ones. We believe that exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months of life is the best option for ensuring the optimal development of the little ones and we encourage mothers in this sense. At the same time, we know that breastfeeding is not always an option for parents, in which case they have to resort to milk formulas. To support parents in the process of raising children, we launched the milk formula with five oligosaccharides, so that we can contribute to strengthening a strong future for young children. ” declares Mihaela Busu, Business Executive Officer Nestlé Infant Nutrition South East Europe.
About oligosaccharides in breast milk
Oligosaccharides in breast milk are essential ingredients for the health of infants and young children. Research cannot fully capture the complexity of the dynamics of these substances and the ways in which they help and protect the health of young children. Over 200 distinct oligosaccharides have been identified in breast milk, with a diverse matrix present in lactating mothers. They fall into three main categories: fucosylated neutrals, non-fucosylated and sialylated neutrals. The new formula contains a mixture of five oligosaccharides structurally identical to those in breast milk, representing all three categories.
