It’s time to pack up and store your rugs after washing them first.
Unless your carpet is full of stubborn stains that require a lot of scrubbing and you don’t have the patience or the will, you can clean it yourself.
The process is simple and economical. You just have to spend some time.
Let’s see how to clean carpets yourself:
Vacuum your carpet
Start by vacuuming the carpet to remove dust and anything that has fallen on it (crumbs, hair, etc.).
For best results, wipe the carpet from both sides. If the possibility exists and the carpet is not large, you can shake it.
Cleaning by hand
Baking soda
The best cleaning solution for a carpet that is not too dirty is baking soda. Spray the entire surface of the carpet and leave it for two hours (preferably longer but we know it may not be possible).
Wipe with the baking soda with the vacuum cleaner and if you want leave it on the terrace to air out.
Homemade solution
If there are sporadic stains on the carpet, make a homemade solution of liquid dishwashing detergent (1 tbsp), white vinegar (1 tbsp) and about a cup of warm water.
Put the solution in a spray bottle and spray it on the stains and then the entire carpet. Scrub with a soft brush and allow the carpet to dry.
Vacuum the carpet again.
